Momondo is another great website similar to Skyscanner for checking flights online. You can also select ‘anywhere’ in the world as a destination and check the cheapest options on your specific dates on a map.
Google Flights
Google Flights is also great for checking the cheapest destinations on a map from your departure airport.
Accommodation
Booking.com
Booking.com is always my first choice, as it offers great choice of accommodation in affordable prices and it’s so easy to use.
Airbnb
It is a great alternative to find out homes and apartments to rent by real homeowners.
HotelsCombined
HotelsCombined is a hotel metasearch engine that allows users to search and compare hotel rates in one search from various websites.
Trivago
Trivago is another great search engine to check deals from different websites.
TripAdvisor
TripAdvisor can also be used as a search engine to check deals from different websites; however not as good for checking the actual properties & rooms.

A great website to check the best way to get from one point to another, especially good if you are looking for train and bus fares.

One of the best websites to check ferry schedules and buy the cheapest ferry tickets while in Greece.

Google Earth particularly provides an option to display photographs on the map, so you can explore virtually your destination before you go and decide what you want to visit.

This site is part of the Wikimedia Foundation and has lots of information about travel destinations and travel topics written by volunteer authors.
Lonely Planet
A good place to start searching for your destination but the information online is limited compared to the actual guidebooks.
Rough Guides
Another decent place to start but not with as many destinations online yet. Again the information online is limited compared to the actual guidebooks.
Culture Trip
A website that offers blog posts to most destinations worldwide by a global community of travel experts and local insiders.
